What is Hatha Yoga?

Hatha Yoga is a precise science, an easy to follow guide for bringing greater health to body and mind, and for raising consciousness.

Ha” means sun and “Tha” means moon in Sanskrit.  The “Ha and “Tha” of Hatha Yoga therefore stand for the  solar and lunar energies within us, represented by the various polarities within our being which Hatha Yoga brings into balance: the male and female energies,  heating and cooling systems of the body, sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, prana (life-force) and mind.

Hatha Yoga practices bring these polarities into equilibrium so we can experience health and well-being in body and mind, which in turn helps us to raise our consciousness. The practices include:

· cleansing practices (kriyas)
· breathing techniques (pranayama)
· yoga postures (asanas)
· meditation (dhyana)
