RETREATS & WORKSHOPS
The Joyful Yoga of Lady Niguma The Yoga of Lady Niguma is a 1000 year old yoga practice, created by a lady who lived on an island on the sacred River Ganges in India. it is the oldest Hatha Yoga practice of which we have a written record and unusually it is written by a woman. This practice is particularly suited to the stresses of troubled modern times, being specifically designed to work very deeply with your body and mind to let your stress go and your happiness and peace of mind flow. It is a simple practice which you can do at home even during busy days to keep body and mind in balance. The workshop is suitable for all levels of experience, although it helps if you have done at least a little yoga in the past. Nurture and Replenish: Yoga for Fatigue & Chronic Illness These classes are for those who are not well enough to do a regular yoga class due to fatigue related to chronic illness. The classes are specifically designed to offer your body and mind the nourishing benefits of yoga without depleting your energy. They will help you to feel an increase in energy, and will ease stiffness and pain in the body, the stress in the mind, and heaviness of spirit that can arise when living with long-term debilitating illness. The classes will include gentle movements (using a chair or lying down), healing and pain-relieving breathing practices, visualisations and meditations inspired by the teachings of the classical yoga scriptures. For dates and venue please see the schedule page. Yoga, Healing and Mindfulness Yoga for The Digestive System The gut is sometimes referred to as the "second brain". It has it's own nervous system which often responds well to specialised yoga practices designed to relieve symptoms and give support to a digestive system which has become out of balance. On this programme, you will learn about the function of the digestive system, root causes of digestive system disorders and how to apply yoga practices specifically for relief of discomfort in the upper and lower digestive tracts, and to restore digestive function. For dates and venue please see schedule Yoga for Depression and Anxiety Yoga can be very beneficial in easing mental and emotional stresses. These manifest in many in modern society as anxiety and/or depression. Yoga can work very specifically to ease these two states by bringing the nervous system back into balance and by balancing irregularities in the brain and in the glandular system. During this programme, you will learn about depression and anxiety from a modern psycho-physiological and from a yogic perspective. You will practice techniques for easing symptoms of depression, for relieving anxiety and for restoring balance to the body-mind. You will also experience the powerful tools yoga offers us for deeper self-knowledge. This can help us rediscover our own power and come to a place of self-acceptance and deeper inner healing.
