YOGA AND AYURVEDA KEYS TO MENTAL HEALTH, APR 18, 1-4PM
We all experience stress of one kind or another, and these days the pressures on each one of us seem above and beyond what they have been previously. There are good stresses – stresses that challenge us to step out of our comfort zone and to grow and evolve. However, when stress starts to overwhelm us it can have a detrimental effect on our mental health, and also of course on our physical health. In Ayurveda, all diseases begin in the mind.
This workshop is not intended to be an alternative or replacement to the varied types of professional help available these days when we struggle to cope with our inner and outer worlds. It is rather intended to offer an understanding of our psychology and the tools that we all need these days to give us greater resilience to the inevitable stresses we are likely to face through the course of our lives.
On this afternoon, you will learn Yoga and Ayurveda solutions which not only support healthy psychology, but which also support our nervous systems to stay in balance and thereby our whole physiology.
We will look at:
- how foods affect our moods and how to adapt our food choices according to our metabolic type and psychological presdiposition for greater equilibrium in the mind
- yoga styles and practices for specific psychological states and to restore equilibrium through the ups and downs of life
- meditation and it’s impact on mental health
- an introduction the practice of meditation: asimple but effective beginners technique
